Answers to some common questions

General

Work Wanderers is a remote working experience that provides retreats in various locations around the world. We offer our Wanderers a coliving/coworking experience that includes accommodation, access to a coworking spaces, group activities and networking events as well as all your logistics sorted so you have nothing to worry about when settling into your new home for the next 3 weeks.

We accept people from all over the world.  In order to qualify to join the retreat you will need to be able to work independent of location or building an online project of your own. Our Wanderers range from creatives & entrepreneurs to developers who are able to work remotely. We also require our Wanderers to have an enthusiasm and tenacity for travel as well as being eager to share their work experiences and network with fellow Wanderers. 

As long as you are able to work remotely from 9-5 the no problem! You can determine your own daily schedule depending on your work needs. 

Nope. Our programs are for people who have remote jobs and are location independent. We do not provide jobs for the retreat. If you are looking for a remote job, try sourcing one from remote working jobs sites like Upwork or Flexjobs.

We understand you are a working professional and need the freedom and flexibility to get your work done when you need to. Due to this all activities are voluntary and you can take part in as much or as little as you like. We want to allow you to be indepedent and make the experience what you want it to be. We have a calendar od activities throughout the week that include masterclasses, skillshares, workshops, social evenings and weekend day trips – all of which you can choose to attend or not. We are available 24/7 for support and will keep you included in everything that’s happening, however it will be up to you on whether you can/would like to participate.

Our Wanderers vary in age. Minimum age is 18 years old. The average age is 30 years old however everyone is welcome as long as they are able to work remotely or are working on their own online projects.

Our retreats from 2020 are 3 weeks long. We ensure you have an immersive experience and feel like a local in no time. Please see dates of each retreat on the specific retreat page. Please let us know if you have any questions.

We will review your application and let you know whether it has been successful within 48 hours of submission.

Once you have been accepted onto the retreat, we will determine your payment preference and send you info on how to secure your spot and make your booking.

COVID-19 is an unprecedented global crisis which has affected us as it has most travel businesses. Due to impending travel restrictions and taking the health and safety of our Wanderers into account, we had to cancel our Tbilisi and Bansko retreats that were planned for May-July. This was very unfortunate but all those affected were contacted and fully refunded. Our Bali and Cape Town retreats are still going forward and we are looking forward to them. We will monitor the situation as it evolves and update our community accordingly. Please stay safe and healthy and hope to have you join us soon!

Trip Preparation

No, we do not provide flights as part of the rereat package. We do pick you up upon arrival and take you to your retreat so that immersion into your new city is seamless. 

For some locations you may need a visa. We will be happy to assist with providing proof of retreat payment, accommodation details as well as proof of acceptance onto the retreat. You will be solely responsible for securing a visa if needed.

The earlier the better as spots per retreat are limited. You will need to have booked and paid the full amount for the retreat 45 days before retreat start date. Look out for early bird specials. 

Yes, we require all Wanderers to have travel insurance in place for the duration of the retreat. These documents will need to be sent through to us before arrival. 

We secure the retreat accommodation 3-4 months prior to retreat start date. You can expect to stay in a villa/apartment in a private or shared room, depending which pricing option you choose. All accommodation has high speed internet as well as kitchen facilities. We also try to secure accommodation that is convenient and close to the co-working space. 

We source the top coworking spaces in each city that are trendy, modern and kitted out with everything needed to enhance your work day. You will get an access card to the space and have the freedom to work there as often as you’d like.

There are also optional extra’s that we put together so you can explore everything your new home as to offer which you can choose to do or not. 

Pricing & payments

Our retreat prices vary according to location. We have varying pricing options from shared rooms (most affordable) to private rooms. Prices for 3 week digital nomad retreat start from $1100 pp.

You can also bring a friend/partner for FREE when opting for the private room option. They will receive the entire retreat experience except for co-working space access which they can add if they like.

Once you have been accepted for the retreat we will determine how you would prefer to pay and assist accordingly. 

There are various options to pay for your retreat. We accept online and offline payments. Online payments can be made through via Paypal or through our PayPal integrated checkout using a Mastercard or Visa credit card.

If you prefer to do an EFT/Direct transfer, we will provide you with an invoice and our banking details. 

For both options, once we have received payments we will send you a receipt and your spot on the retreat is secure and booked! Now all you have to do is get excited for your adventure ahead. 

Split the cost with your partner or friend when you bring them along for free! They will need to share your room & take part in group activities. They will receive the entire retreat offering except for access to the co-working space which can be added on as an extra. Please note, all partners & friends will need to be vetted by the retreat coordinator.  

Getting Oriented

In all of our retreats, English is understood and spoken by the locals. It may not be their first language but they will be able to converse We will also provide you with a local language starter kit so you can settle in easily and feel comfortable. 

In each location it is important to be vigilant as crime is everywhere. We do ensure that our accommodation is centrally located and in areas deemed safe. Saying that, please ensure you listen to your local retreat coordinator upon arrival on safety measures as you will be responsible for your safety and well-being. Travel insurance is also a requirement of joining our retreats as we believe safety should always come first. 

Each location is different in terms of public transport. Upon arrival at the airport you will be picked up and transported to your accommodation. Upon orientation we will give you a breakdown on different modes of transport in your new city and in some locations provide you with a starter kit for either buses or subways. 

Upon arrival we will provide you with a local SIM card. Please let us know your phone make and model before arrival so we can ensure it fits. You will have a new number with a bit of airtime. Airtime & data will be available for top-up on this package. 

Yes, of course! This is one of our main priorities. In your accommodation you will have access to high-speed internet 24/7. If there is ever an issue with WIFI connectivity or speed we will ensure it is sorted out pronto.
